Since bursting onto the scene in 2002 as Van Wilder, Ryan Reynolds has steadily gone from being a hit amongst college kids to one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood. This year he took on the lead role in the superhero film, Green Lantern. In the film, Reynolds’ character is given a “mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers.” That’s cool; but we’re guessing Reynolds, a Packers fan, would trade that ring in a second for the championship rings donned by guys like Driver, Jones, Matthews and Finley.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, it isn’t quite clear when or why Reynolds became a Packers fan. Maybe he identified with the cold weather. When it comes down to it, it doesn’t really matter when or why Reynolds became a fan. All that matters is that he has stuck with the team through wins and losses, and Reynolds has done exactly that.
During a 2008 appearance on the Rachel Ray show, Reynolds was invited by Ray to watch a game from the comforts of a luxury suite at Lambeau Field as a guest of Aaron Rodgers. Reynolds promptly accepted and publications around the world wrote, “Reynolds’ Football Dream Comes True”.
Scheduled to star in two feature films in both 2012 and 2013, Reynolds is showing he is only getting better. Congratulations, Ryan; you’re this week’s Big Cheese.
