Joey Mbu is the newest member of the Green Bay Packers. On Monday, one day before the start of the three-day minicamp, the Packers announced they have signed the veteran defensive tackle who spent last season with the Indianapolis Colts. Mbu will wear No. 73 for the Packers.
In 2015, Mbu was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent from the University of Houston. Mbu spent the majority of his rookie season on the practice squad, but he was active for the final two games of the year. In 2016, Mbu split time between the practice squad of the Falcons and the Washington Redskins. Last year, Mbu spent the offseason on the Redskins roster, but the team cut him after training camp. He was then signed by the Indianapolis Colts and spent the first half of the year on the practice squad. Mbu was elevated to the active roster in November and played in seven games. The new Packers defensive tackle finished the year with three tackles while playing in 96 snaps.
